August 16 is National Rum Day Rum! Rum is a liquor made by fermenting and then distilling sugarcane molasses or sugarcane juice. Per Wikipedia – The distillate, a clear liquid, is often aged in barrels of oak. Rum originated in the Caribbean in the 17th century, but today it is produced in nearly every major sugar-producing region of the world. Rum has become a key ingredient for many cocktails. Holland America’s Hemingway Daiquiri is one example. Gather friends around the table and reminisce or perhaps plan the next cruise adventure aboard one of Holland America’s ships!
