GUIDE / INSTRUCTIONS

The Painkiller was first created in the 1970s at the Soggy Dollar Bar at White Bay on the island of Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands. Apparently, it was originally made using Cruzan Rum. It is typically a blend of rum with four parts pineapple juice, one part cream of coconut and one part orange juice, well shaken and served on the rocks with a generous amount of fresh grated nutmeg on top. One serving may be made with two, three, or four ounces of rum. Should you like to customize your own version at home, here are our bartenders’ favorite proportions. Sit back, enjoy and start planning your next cruise on SeaDream Yacht Club.

  • Fill a glass with ice. Add all ingredients and briskly stir. Add a dash of nutmeg on top and garnish with a pineapple wedge. Dip your toes in the sand for full effect.
